How to create a savings goal

After this guide, you'll be able to: Create a goal with a target amount and optional deadline to track your savings progress.

Published 21 April 2026

  1. 1

Go to Goals from the navigation

Open Goals. Any existing goals are shown here with their progress.

  2. 2

    Tap "+ New goal"

Tap the add button to open the goal creation modal.

  3. 3

Name your goal and set the target amount

Give the goal a specific name ("Emergency Fund", "Japan Trip 2027", "New Laptop"). Enter the target amount — the total you're trying to save.

  4. 4

Optionally set a target date and monthly contribution

If you have a deadline (like a booked holiday), set a target date. Owdyn will show you how much you need to save per month to hit it on time.

You can also set a planned monthly contribution. This amount will be deducted from your Safe-to-Spend, reserving the money before you see your available balance.

Don't set a contribution you can't sustain. It's better to start with a smaller regular amount and increase it later than to pause the goal because it felt too tight.

  5. 5

    Save the goal

Tap Save. The goal appears in your Goals list with a progress bar.

What happens next

Add contributions to your goal as you save. You can do this manually (tap "+ Add contribution") or by importing transactions from a dedicated savings account.
