How much can I actually spend right now — without touching money already spoken for?
The honest numbers company
When we started building Owdyn, we kept asking one thing: why do so many people feel uncertain about money — even when things are technically fine, even when there's money in the account? The answer turned out to be simple.
“Most people aren't bad with money.
They just can't see clearly.”
Owdyn's job is to give you the clearest possible view of your money, then get out of the way. No shame, no pressure, no judgement about what you do with it. Just the honest number — and everything you need to trust it.

Built for this market
New Zealand has excellent budgeting tools. What sets Owdyn apart isn't where it was built — it's what it puts first. Safe-to-Spend isn't a tab or a secondary figure in Owdyn. It's the number the whole app is built around.
ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, Westpac — CSV import works immediately, with NZ date formats and NZ column naming already mapped. No configuration needed. Auto bank sync is coming for Plus and Wise.
Afterpay, Laybuy, Zip — tracked instalment by instalment. Your Safe-to-Spend already knows about Thursday's payment before it hits your account.
Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly — budget periods flex to match your actual pay cycle. NZD is the only currency in Owdyn, not a setting you configure. NZ date formats and bank statement layouts work straight away.
What we believe
We show you the real figure — not the one that looks good, the one that's true. Nothing rounded up, nothing hidden in a chart. You make better decisions with honest data.
Money is stressful enough without an app that amplifies that stress. No red banners. No shame nudges. No judgement. Just clear information, delivered without pressure.
No lock-in, ever. Export everything, anytime, in a format you can actually use. Your financial data belongs to you — not us.
Not for people who love spreadsheets. For people who just want to feel confident at the checkout, booking a flight, or saying yes to dinner without running the numbers in their head.
The OW comes from the owl — one of the most universal symbols of wisdom across human history. Calm, watchful, able to see clearly in the dark and notice what others miss. That felt like exactly the right spirit for a financial app: one that keeps watch while you live your life.
ODYN is our take on Odin — the Norse god of wisdom and foresight, the father who seeks understanding above all else. In Norse mythology, Odin doesn't just possess wisdom; he pursues it relentlessly, sacrificing to see more clearly. That pursuit — knowing more so you can live better — is exactly what financial clarity is.
“Financial wisdom isn't expertise.
It's clarity — knowing exactly what you can spend.”
We call Owdyn a companion, not a tool — deliberately. A tool waits for you. A companion is on your side: watching what's coming, keeping track while you're busy living. The name carries that promise. Calm, watchful, always present.

Arjun Kataria
Founder, Owdyn
I never planned to build a budgeting app.
I just got tired of opening my bank app, seeing my balance, and still having no idea what I could actually spend — once rent, bills, and subscriptions were already committed elsewhere. Just because I have $5,000 in my account doesn't mean I can spend $5,000.
Every app I tried tracked my spending accurately enough. But none of them answered the one question I actually needed answered: how much can I spend right now, without touching money already committed to rent, bills, and savings? So I built Owdyn to answer exactly that — and built everything else in service of it.
The goal was never to build the most feature-rich app. It was to build the one that shows you the right number the moment you open it.
