How to add a recurring bill

After this guide, you'll be able to: Add a recurring bill so Owdyn reduces your Safe-to-Spend before each payment hits your account.

Published 21 April 2026

  1. 1

Go to Bills from the navigation

Open Bills & Commitments. Existing bills and upcoming occurrences are shown here.

  2. 2

    Tap "+ Add bill"

Tap the add button to open the bill creation modal.

  3. 3

    Enter the bill details

Fill in: Bill name (e.g. "Contact Energy"), amount, frequency (weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, annually), and next due date.

If the amount varies (like a power bill), enter the typical amount — you can update individual occurrences when the exact amount is known.

  4. 4

    Optionally assign a category

Assigning a category lets the bill appear in your budget tracking. For example, a power bill assigned to "Utilities" counts against your Utilities budget for the month it's due.

  5. 5

    Save the bill

Tap Save. Owdyn generates upcoming occurrences for the next few months. Any occurrence falling within your Safe-to-Spend horizon immediately reduces your available balance.

What happens next

When a bill is paid, mark the occurrence as paid in Owdyn (or Owdyn may auto-match it from your transaction imports). This keeps your upcoming list accurate.
