How to add a credit card to Owdyn

After this guide, you'll be able to: Add a credit card account so the balance you owe is tracked in your net worth.

Published 21 April 2026

  1. 1

Go to Accounts and tap "+ Add Account"

Open Accounts from the navigation, then tap the "+ Add Account" button to open the form.

  2. 2

Select "Credit Card" as the account type

Choose "Credit Card" from the account type options. This tells Owdyn to treat the balance as a liability — what you owe, not what you have. The balance will reduce your net worth accordingly.

  3. 3

Enter your card name and current balance owed

Give the card a recognisable name (e.g. "Kiwibank Visa", "ASB Platinum"). For the balance, enter the amount you currently owe — this is the outstanding balance on your statement or in online banking, not the credit limit.

Enter what you OWE, not the credit limit. A $500 balance means you owe $500 and your net worth is reduced by $500.

  4. 4

    Save the account

Tap Save. The card appears in your accounts list as a liability. The balance shown is the amount owed.

What happens next

With your credit card added, you can import its transaction history via CSV, or connect it for automatic sync (Plus/Wise). You can also use the Debt Payoff simulator to model a payoff plan.
