Works with ASB

Use Owdyn with ASB

Owdyn works with ASB out of the box. Export your transactions from ASB’s internet banking, import the file, and Owdyn categorises your spending with NZ merchant recognition — then keeps one honest Safe-to-Spend number in front of you.

Up and running in minutes

  1. 1

Sign in to FastNet on desktop

Go to fastnet.asb.co.nz and sign in with your ASB username and password. CSV export is only available on the full desktop site — not the ASB mobile app.

  2. 2

Open the account you want to export

From the Accounts overview, click the account name whose transactions you want to download — for example, your Streamline account, eSaver, or credit card. You'll export each account separately.

  3. 3

    Open the account history

Click the History tab or View history link within the account. You'll see a list of recent transactions.

  4. 4

    Set your date range

Use the date range fields to select the period you want to export. For a first import, we recommend the last 3 months — enough to set meaningful budgets. ASB supports up to 12 months per export.

  5. 5

    Export as CSV

Click the Export button near the top-right of the transaction list. A dropdown appears — select CSV as the format. Click Export or Download to save the file to your computer.

  6. 6

    Import the file into Owdyn

In Owdyn, go to Accounts, select your account, and click Import CSV. Upload the file you downloaded. Owdyn maps ASB's columns automatically and detects any duplicates if you've imported before.

ASB’s FastNet Classic internet banking can export account transactions as a CSV file from your transaction history.

Your login stays with your bank

Automatic bank sync on Plus and Wise runs through Akahu — New Zealand’s accredited open banking intermediary — so your ASB password is never shared with Owdyn. And CSV import, free on every plan, keeps your credentials with ASB entirely. Read more on our security page.

ASB + Owdyn, answered

Do I need to give Owdyn my ASB internet banking login?

No — never. If you connect ASB automatically on Plus or Wise, that runs through Akahu, New Zealand's accredited open banking intermediary, so your password goes to Akahu's secure flow and never to Owdyn. If you import a CSV instead — free on every plan — you export the file yourself from ASB FastNet Classic and your credentials stay with ASB entirely.

How much ASB history can I import?

Up to 12 months per export. Three months is a practical first import — you can always add earlier files later, and Owdyn detects overlaps so nothing is double-counted.

Can I export from the ASB mobile app?

No — CSV export is only on the full desktop site. Sign in to fastnet.asb.co.nz in a browser, open the account, click the History tab, then Export at the top-right of the transaction list and choose CSV.

Which ASB accounts can I import?

Everyday (Streamline) accounts, Savings On Call accounts, credit cards and joint accounts. Export each separately. ASB's DD/MM/YYYY dates and signed amounts are mapped automatically on import.

Sync covers the banks Akahu supports; CSV import works with any NZ bank. See all banks on the banks hub.
